Join the Manitoba Association of Library Technicians and our two exciting
speakers*  Friday, 5 February 2016 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM *at the newly
built Gaynor Family Regional Library in Selkirk Manitoba. MALT members

*The Makerspace CulturePresenter: Megan O’Brien and Alix-Rae Stefanko from
Winnipeg Public Library.*

The role of the library is ever changing to respond to its community’s
needs. A Makerspace can provide patrons with a place for learning, doing,
and creating. Learn what a Makerspace is and why libraries should jump on
providing Makerspaces for their patrons. Hit the ground running with this
fun and interactive presentation.

Note: There will be a short, 15 minute break and *coffee service* between
part A and Part B of their presentation.

*Lunch will not be included in the workshop price but you are able to enjoy
lunch from the Ubuntu Café located onsite.*

Afternoon Session: 1:15PM-4:00PM


*Marketing and promotion for your library.Presenter: Tabitha Nordby,
Library Information and Technology Instructor at Red River College.*

How are you currently reaching your users? What about non users? Everyone
knows that libraries carry books, but are they aware of the other services
you offer? Demystify what it means to market and promote your library, gain
new users and strengthen your bond with your community.
