Warm wishes Canadian Teacher-Librarians,

As we approach the home stretch of the school year, the CLA Conference in Edmonton is just around the bend! It’s a wonderful occasion for us all to get together with colleagues from across the country!

In complement to the sessions held at the conference, we also have the inaugural Treasure Mountain Canada research retreat on June 2nd and 3rd, at the University of Alberta. This national symposium for ‘Rethinking, Revisioning and Transforming’ School Libraries in Canada is set to be an exciting new turn in collaborative 21st Century learning.

Research papers have all been submitted and many can now be viewed on the TMCanada wiki http://tmcanada.pbworks.com/ . Please visit the wiki to see what’s involved in this upcoming event and to share comments, on the Your Turn page!

You can also view a promo PSA video and preview research paper summaries on the TMCanada blog http://tmcanada.blogspot.com/ . Please share these links with all the Teacher-Librarians and School Library Technicians in your district. Join us in the discussion through collaborative online dialogue!

For those of you who will not be in attendance, please take some time in your busy schedule to visit the blog several times on June 2nd and 3rd, to view video coverage of major speakers and to read regular updates! You can share individual comments per post! Even though you won’t be there in person you can be an important voice for school libraries!

To all of you coming to Edmonton, see you there! To all virtual visitors, we’re looking forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
Cindy Matthews,
Councillor, CASL
Canadian Association for School Libraries
