Happy New Year!

Just wanted to draw your attention to an upcoming storytelling workshop with Inuit Storyteller and author Michael Kusugak.

The workshop will be held here at PC-ERC It's on Jan 20, and is a full day workshop.

During the morning  Michael will be sharing his stories and personal experiences.  He offers a fascinating perspective of growing up in a traditional Inuit way, and of living a full contemporary life today.

The afternoon will give participants a chance to learn stories for themselves.  Centres will be set up so that participants can try different ways of sharing Michael's stories.  Learn to tell a string story, try out shadow puppets, see a story vine type story, and use props to retell.  We'll have fun!

The cost of the workshop is $50.  Cheques can be made out to Winnipeg School Division.

Listen to Michael's story including information about the Inuit and his life as an author. Learn about
great Inuit inventions such as the kayak, igloo and about games such as 1 foot high kick and toe
jump.   Engage in strategies related to story-telling and share your learning with others.

About Michael Kusugak
Michael lives in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut where he writes children's stories. He travels and speaks to
many audiences including children and adults. His books have been translated into French, Braille,
Japanese and Korean. He has won many awards such as the Ruth Schwartz Award for Children.
