FREE ACCESS to EBSCOhost Databases

Have you ever wished you could have the newest magazines in your school for students to use in their inquiry projects? Would you like to have a collection at your fingertips, including titles as diverse as Kayak: Canada's History Magazine for Kids, Canadian Geographic, or Popular Mechanics?

Have you wanted to subscribe to important news sources like Time or Macleans, or professional journals like Reading Teacher or School Library Journal?

EBSCOhost databases can provide you with full-text articles from all these sources and hundreds more, from the comfort of your home or at school. Click here<http://www.mlcinc.mb.ca/licenseinfo/SEARCH%20like%20there's%20no%20tomorrow%20-%20final.pdf> for more information about the databases involved in this offer.

Until April 30th, 2010, schools and public libraries throughout Manitoba are invited to make use a core of EBSCO databases at no cost to you! You can use the EBSCOhost site with your students and library patrons. After this time period, special pricing will be available for you to continue using the resources.

This trial has been organized and paid for by members of the Manitoba Library Consortium, Inc.<http://www.mlcinc.mb.ca/> (MLCI). The MLCI is a non-profit organization designed to plan and manage cooperatively projects and activities which will provide the citizens of Manitoba with faster and more equitable access to the library/information resources of the province. One of the ways MLCI helps its members gain value is through collective purchasing to reduce costs.

The Manitoba Library Consortium members have long believed that all Manitobans, especially young people, need to have access to the best resources, both print and digital. This offer is intended to narrow the gap in the digital divide by providing access to these materials to any person in Manitoba until April 30th.

Working with MLCI, EBSCO has created a pricing structure which will seek to engage all libraries throughout the province. The more libraries that join the EBSCO license, the lower the price will be for all. The new license agreement will begin in September 2010.

Along with access to the databases, you will gain access to and webinars<http://www.mlcinc.mb.ca/licenseinfo/ebscowebinars.html> to assist you in training library and teaching staff on the use of the databases. There are also promotional ideas available from EBSCO (http://support.ebsco.com/promotion/promo.php), including a feature on Kelvin High School in Winnipeg (http://www.ebscohost.com/customerSuccess/uploads/topicFile-839.pdf).
